TAMING THE TIGER
An exploration of the book by Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche. The book contains general guidance for everyday life, looking at the way we experience situations and difficulties. The basic metaphor compares our untamed mind to a wild tiger, which causes suffering to others and ourselves. Rinpoche addresses the ‘human condition’ directly using common sense principles of the Buddhist view applied to everyday life, which anyone can access.
There are various relaxations/meditations and visualization exercises given as therapeutic tools for emotional, mental and physical wellbeing. The purpose is to become more of a compassionate observer to one’s own habitual patterns and to develop stability and balance in daily life.
"The real benefit is in the development of peace and mutual understanding – understanding of the world and of the people around us and of ourselves too"
Akong Rinpoche
